Margaret M Pirrie (died June 1935) – wife of Viscount Pirrie and financial supporter of the Royal Victoria Hospital The series of books taught children the alphabet and writing. Using horizontal and vertical lines, handwriting was practised by copying out proverbs. Copy books for older children taught basic business studies and book-keeping. In 1870 Drawing books were introduced which included titles such as Drawing to Scale, Architecture and Workshop Drawing.

Nosebleeds (also known as epistaxis) are fairly common, especially in children, and can generally be easily treated. There are no new grave plots available in the cemetery, but burials still take place in existing graves. However, we only provide a grave burial service and do not offer natural burials in the cemetery. Vere Foster used his vast personal wealth to pay the fares of 25 000 emigrants and sought to secure for them work and accommodation in the New World. His efforts convinced him of the urgent need to raise educational standards in Victorian Ireland. He paid for the building and equipping of schools, both catholic and protestant, designing his own Vere Foster Copy Books to improve literacy among the poor. Printed in Belfast, his Copy Books remained in use until the 1950s. Foster was asked to draw up a letter of complaint for the Captain. It was never delivered as Foster was assaulted by the First Mate Mr Williams and the letter destroyed. The whole crew, including the doctor, treated the Irish with contempt and brutality. For use as a cemetery, the dams had to be drained and infilled with clay and the mill and outbuildings demolished. The extension was laid out on a grid pattern. The first burial in Glenalina was that of Lizzie Young, aged 13, on 11th November 1915. Military Graves

The NHS Breast Screening Programme invites over 2 million women for screening every year, and detects over 14,000 cancers. Dr Emma Pennery of Breast Cancer Care says: “Breast X-rays, called mammograms, can detect tumours at a very early stage, before you’d feel a lump. The earlier it’s treated, the higher the survival rate.” it is more pleasing, to be at peace than at enmity with one’s fellow creatures, and… that superior pleasure is derivable from doing that which is agreeable to the best interests of society rather than the contrary.
