About this deal

The fragrance starts out “fizzy”... like a bubble bath, and dries down to soft, relaxing lavender. A perfect sleep scent. A perfect “cozy scent”. A perfect scent when you need to decompress and relax. This scent is perfect for just about anytime - maybe not in the daytime when the weather is stiflingly hot and humid.

I do like the fact that the musk is fluffy and doesn’t smell synthetic like The Body Shop White Musk. I can not stand White Musk. This is extremely similar to one of my all time favorite perfumes by Avon, Rare Pearls. Rare Pearls is slightly more floral, but they are so close that they are like sisters that look and act extremely similar. One is more musk based, the other is just a shade sweeter and more floral based...but generally, extremely similar. I also feel that this would be in the same fragrance genre as Prima by Avon, which is another favorite. Prima has more of a patchouli type base, rather than musk - but the general essence is unobtrusive and soft - just like Lovely (I don't have that perfume to compare, but this would definitely be in the same general fragrance family). It smells as I remember - soft, inviting, cozy, elegant. It's like the gray cashmere sweater of fragrances. To some, it might seem boring. But to me it's classic, timeless, and versatile, and works in most situations: at home, brunch with friends, a casual dinner out with my husband, running errands. It's also a great office fragrance. I really Admire Sarah and I have to put it to her the way she creates her fragrances she works closely with the perfumers and know what she likes. I know the oils and perfumes she used to mix before making Lovely smelled more like her 2016 release Stash (one of the best perfumes PERIOD) and that she wanted a unisex type of smell and Lovely is a bit more polite than what she usually would dose herself in, but this to me is completely unisex. As I said it smells like clean warm salty skin with that cosy musk vibe that I think anyone can pull off if they wish to.The lotions, the body mists, the perfumes all smell so beautifully done and Sarah needs a bit more respect in my eyes as I don’t see this as a dupe for NR that was far too sharp and screechy for me where as lovely is inviting and lovely lol. Think of it as a nice hug from a loved one or the feeling of laying down in silk sheets… Lovely is a 2005 perfume released by Sarah Jessica Parker. Parker’s first fragrance, Lovely is a light floral musk based on a blend Parker had made for herself. The perfume’s formal development was the subject of a 2008 book by New York Times perfume critic Chandler Burr called The Perfect Scent: A Year Behind the Scenes of the Perfume Industry in Paris and New York. [1] Product development [ edit ] I blind bought this and the first sniff smelled a little grandma-ish. But omggg, mix this with Twilight Woods or Love Spell and it smells so yummy!!!! It’s a very comforting scent and I love wearing it to bed.

Immediately after spraying it on my arm, I thought it was horrible. And, I mean, HORRIBLE. It was a sharp, bitter smell. I coughed, and then held my nose. I did notice that the atomizer sprayed steadily and evenly. That was of little consolation, however, as my next thought was, it's a shame that a horrible concoction is now evenly coated on my arm. This smells EXACTLY like NR for her on my skin. I just tried it next to each other and they smell the same on me. the only difference is probably the lovely one is tiny bit sweeter. like 1%. So it doesnt really matter. Light, floral, and a tiny bit fruity thanks to the orange and bergamot, this is an incredibly delicate perfume. The staying power is almost non-existent. In time it does mellow from the initial burst of pink nothingness into a slightly more solid, woodsy lavender - which is nice enough in and of itself, but this is a scent that unfortunately never shakes its unoriginality. In 2008, Chandler Burr published a book, The Perfect Scent: A Year Behind the Scenes of the Perfume Industry in Paris and New York, which chronicled the development of Lovely, comparing it to the development of Hermès fragrance by Jean-Claude Ellena, Un Jardin sur Le Nil. [9] Oh my goodness, how enjoyable is this (if this profile is your type)! This Cinderella. When you splurge on something ‘exclusive’ you treat wearing that as a special event to be remembered forever. You don’t expect much from budget and can be wrong about it. Pricing skews perception a lot. But this is telling me that the best things in life can be free - or near free as Lovely is. What’s even more surprising than the quality of the scent is its staying power. I don’t think ‘you get what you pay for’ applies in this case. I must be the recessive gene because I cannot smell anything. Nada. The faintest whisp of aldehyde and lavendar for about 10 secs. That's it. I bought it on the grey market for cheap, so I thought it was them. Nope. Went to Walgreens and sprayed and I got nothing.

When I smelt Lovely again this year, it was as the name suggest. I don't know if it's because my nose is more developed or if it's because I'm more open and I am not classifying fragrances based on whose it is but more about my experience with it. Needless to say, I think this is beautifully done and a gem for the price. On my skin it is a floral, woody, musky, feminine scent. It has a classy/sophisticated air about it. I get good projection and longevity from it. As I walk around there is a scent bubble all around me and it puts me in a happy place. IMO, it can be worn I'm all seasons, day or night. GREAT value for money. I can see the similarities that reviewers have mentioned regarding Narciso Rodriguez for Her and Philosophy Inner Grace (I have both). However, there are important differences to each.Without comparisons - a musky, sharp, lightly floral scent. Smells slightly more "work" than "play" to me because of its sharpness. Lovely sits really close to your skin but it blends with it in such a perfect an delicate way that you will feel it as a second skin. I tested this years ago and recall thinking it wasn’t bad considering I gravitate to gourmands and vanilla florientals… It might be reformulated because mine does not last, at least it is not comparable to the Narciso. I do not smell it after spraying it on myself, but I think other people can. Sarah Jessica Parker really gifted us with a beautiful, timeless and lovable perfume you can wear every day.

This perfume is absolutely lovely. It retails for a decent price at most discount retailers and is very easy to find. At first sniff, it smells like an old lady, but after you get used to it, it is a beautiful relaxing musky lavender scent. Perfect for spring days and when you just want to smell clean but not overpowering. Highly recommend. In Search of 'The Perfect Scent' ". All Things Considered. NPR. January 21, 2008. Archived from the original on January 10, 2018 . Retrieved April 15, 2018.I was thinking of gifting it to my mother, but now I may keep it and then get another one for her. Very nice bedtime scent as others said, and last time I tested it, it gave a gentle scent cloud for at least 6 hrs. I much prefer Born Lovely. Completely different fragrance and in my opinion a much better fragrance.
